Three things people usually want from this page: parents want to know who is texting whom, donors want to know who holds their phone number and card, and districts want the documents. All three are below.
Your Student's Safety Is Our Priority
Students control the messaging
Fundraising University does not send text messages to donors. This is the single most important thing to understand about how the platform works.
A student enters up to 30 donor contacts — friends and family they personally know. For each one, the student taps a Text button. That opens the student's own text messaging app (iMessage, Android Messages) with the message already written. The student reads it and sends it from their own phone, using their own phone number, over their own cellular carrier.
Fundraising University records that the outreach was started. We never transmit the message.
There are no corporate shortcodes, no bulk messaging system, no automatic dialer, and no scheduled or automated follow-ups. Every follow-up message requires the student to tap the button again and send it themselves. Because the message comes from the student's own number, donors can reply straight to the student, and they can stop the messages by telling the student directly.
The full technical and legal detail is in the TCPA Compliance Statement.
Coach and parent visibility
Nothing about a student's fundraising is hidden. Coaches see each student's contact list, outreach activity and progress toward goal through the coach dashboard, which is how they identify students who need help. Because every message is sent from the student's own phone, every message a student sends sits in that student's own text history, on the student's own device, where a parent can see it.
Parents with questions about their student's account, or who want to review or delete what we hold, can reach us at support@fundraisingu.net or through the school.
For donors: what we hold, and what we do not
If you received a fundraising text, a student you know sent it from their own phone. Before you give, the only information we hold about you is what that student typed in: your name, your phone number and your relationship to them.
- If you donate or buy product, we also collect your email address and shipping address.
- We never receive your card number, CVV or expiration date. Those go directly from your browser to our payment processor, Priority, which returns a token. We store the token and the transaction details — nothing else.
- Donor contact information is not kept permanently, and it is deleted on request.
- We do not sell personal information, we do not use donor contact information for our own marketing, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.
To have your information removed, email support@fundraisingu.net. Details are in Section 8 of the Privacy Policy.
Federal Compliance Documentation
Every document below is published in full on this site and available as a PDF for procurement files, RFP responses and school agreements.
FERPA (Student Data Privacy)
When we provide services to a school, we act as a school official with a legitimate educational interest, as those terms are used under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 20 U.S.C. § 1232g. The school owns the student data; we are the service provider. We do not use student records for any commercial purpose, and on termination we return or securely delete the school's student data on the school's instruction. See Privacy Policy, Section 5, and the U.S. Department of Education guidance on FERPA.
COPPA (Children Under 13)
Where students under 13 use the platform as part of a program run by a school, group or organization, we rely on that partner to obtain verifiable parental consent, consistent with FTC guidance permitting schools to consent on behalf of parents for an educational service. We collect a phone number, first and last name, reminder opt-in preference, coach group and engagement metrics — no email addresses, no birthdates, no photographs, no biometrics, no precise location, and nothing for advertising. We disclose plainly that the platform has no built-in age verification or consent-collection mechanism today. See the COPPA Compliance Statement in Section 6 of the Privacy Policy, and the FTC guidance on children's privacy.
WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Accessibility)
The Student Portal has been evaluated against Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level A and Level AA. Our published Accessibility Conformance Report states, criterion by criterion, whether the product supports, partially supports or does not support each success criterion — including the criteria we do not yet fully meet.
We do not claim certification, and no accessibility certification exists to claim. What we publish is an honest conformance record plus an active remediation plan. See the Accessibility Statement and Conformance Report.
Section 508 Conformance
The same report documents conformance against the Revised Section 508 Standards (2017 refresh, corrected 2018) — Functional Performance Criteria, Software, and Support Documentation and Services. It is built on the ITI VPAT® 2.5Rev Section 508 Edition template, which is the format most district procurement offices ask for by name.
TCPA (Text Messaging)
Our Telephone Consumer Protection Act statement documents the two-tier messaging architecture: fundraising outreach that students send themselves from their own phones, and a small set of transactional messages — login codes, helper invitations, checkout links, opted-in student reminders — that we do send, each one triggered by the recipient's or the user's own action. See the TCPA Compliance Statement.

State Law Compliance
Fundraising University operates in 28 states. We commit to the student data privacy obligations of the jurisdictions we work in, including:
- California — Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (SOPIPA, Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 22584–22585) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA)
- Colorado — House Bill 21-1110 and the Colorado Privacy Act (C.R.S. §§ 6-1-1301 et seq.)
- Illinois — Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA, 105 ILCS 85/)
- New York — Education Law § 2-d
Across all of them the commitments are the same: no targeted advertising to students, no sale of student information, no commercial profiling, collection limited to what the service actually needs, and written obligations on any provider that touches student data. See Privacy Policy, Section 7.
For Parents: How We Protect Your Student
- Your student decides who to contact. They enter the contacts. We never supply, buy or suggest phone numbers, and we never message anyone your student has not entered.
- Your student sends every fundraising message themselves, from their own phone. You can see those messages in their text history.
- We collect very little. Phone number, first and last name, reminder opt-in, coach group, and basic engagement metrics. No email address through the Student Portal, no grade level, no date of birth, no Social Security number, no photographs, no biometrics.
- No advertising, ever. No targeted ads to students, no behavioral profiles, no marketing to students, and student records are explicitly excluded from our email marketing system.
- No analytics on the Student Portal. Google Analytics runs on the public storefront and checkout only; it is not deployed in the Student Portal.
- You can review or delete it. Contact your student's school, or email support@fundraisingu.net. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
For School Districts: Procurement Documentation
