Fundraising University Welcomes Its November Rookie Class

Fundraising University is proud to welcome the newest members of our national team — a motivated group of sports-minded professionals ready to make an impact both on and off the field.

This November Rookie Class represents the next generation of Fundraising U leaders who will help coaches and student-athletes raise more money, in less time, with the least amount of interference. Their collective experience spans coaching, athletics, community development, and leadership — all anchored by a shared commitment to excellence.


Meet the New Class

Alex Degen – Kentucky / New Jersey
A former Division I baseball player at the University of Kentucky, Alex’s career in development and nonprofit fundraising gives him the perfect foundation for serving schools and teams. He brings leadership, passion, and a deep understanding of what it takes to win as a team.

Dayton Banas – Arizona / Illinois
From interviewing Aaron Rodgers and Jimmy Butler during his time at ESPN Milwaukee to running major promotions for ALT AZ 93.3, Dayton has built his career around sports, entertainment, and connection. His competitive drive and business background make him a powerful addition to Fundraising U.

Barton Hockenberger – Michigan
After years leading community engagement and fundraising events for Buffalo Wild Wings, Bart now brings his experience and enthusiasm to Fundraising U. Based near Ann Arbor, he’s passionate about supporting local schools and student-athletes throughout Michigan.

Joshua Strickland – Colorado / Wyoming
With a degree in Business Administration and a background in baseball, Joshua knows how to lead by example. His focus will be on helping programs across Colorado and Wyoming achieve record-breaking results through teamwork and belief in the process.

Together with fellow rookies Brogan Walker, Christopher McClure, Cory Chandler, Craig LeMay, Dan Cougill, Devin Mayes, Don Vance, Luc Exil, Jeremy Lofton, Robert Awunganyi, and Tracy Chandler, this group represents the future of Fundraising University — united by one jersey, one standard, and one mission.
