Kurt Spomer is the Western Iowa Representative for Fundraising University. Kurt graduated from Tri-Center High School in Neola, Iowa in 2008. He was a four-sport athlete in football, basketball, track, and baseball. He earned first team All-State in all four sports. After high school, he attended Creighton University as a preferred walk-on for the Bluejay baseball team. His junior year, he earned all-conference as a closer in the Missouri Valley Conference. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance as well as a minor in Entrepreneurship. Kurt then joined the Los Angeles Angels as a non-drafted free agent in June of 2012. After spending four years in the Angels Organization reaching Triple-A in 2014 and 2015, he was selected in the Triple-A Phase of the Rule 5 Draft by the Detroit Tigers. He spent three years in the Tigers Organization bouncing back and forth between Double-A and Triple-A.
As a former collegiate and professional athlete, he knew he wanted to stay involved in athletics. When presented with the opportunity to join Fundraising University, he jumped all over it. “Being involved in the communities that I grew up around and helping different sports raise money to get them to that next level, is something that I have passion for and can’t wait to make happen for them.”
